Cork's Red FM Interview
Upon the verdict in the Jackie Twoomey case where her husband was sentencd to nine years for her brutal aasult, she spoke to the Neil Prenderville show on Cork's Red FM. Mary-Louise Lynch, Director of SiSi was invited to give comment and analysis of the case in the context of the challenges facing women in abusive relationships. In conversation with Neil, they discuss reasons why women struggle to leave and the reality facing many women when they do. Jackie will no doubt inspire many women to take a step towards freedom. The upshot of the interview is that rather than pushing women into refuge a change is needed where by perpetrators are removed by Gardai on the doorstep and victim/survivors remain at home where possible.
SiSi works with women navigating complex post-separation journeys as they relate to various legal processes. We are a survivor-led collective of professional women who are experts through our own lived experience.
