From its earliest beginnings, SiSi was built on a clear principle that survivor voices must be supported, developed, and elevated to inform and influence meaningful change.

We work with women experiencing intimate partner violence, many of whom continue to face post-separation abuse. Alongside this, survivors often encounter systemic responses that compound coercive control, leading to further isolation and retraumatisation.

SiSi’s approach directly addresses this reality. We focus on tackling isolation, building capacity, and supporting survivors to develop leadership as experts by experience. Our programmes create space for connection, learning, and long-term support—recognising that recovery and empowerment are not linear processes.

We deliver a range of survivor-led programmes, including the Freedom Programme, Own My Life, and Survivor Rising. These programmes are designed to meet survivors where they are, offering flexibility, peer support, and ongoing engagement without pressure or fixed timelines for “success.”

Between 2021 and 2025, SiSi piloted the Freedom Programme, supporting 135 participants across 93 individual women. We delivered nine programmes on a rolling basis, with many participants returning or engaging intermittently as needed. This flexible model reflects the realities of survivors’ lives and prioritises accessibility and sustained support.

Participants benefit from peer mentorship, advocacy, and support in navigating complex systems when required.
