SiSi is recruiting a Web Development and Social Media Volunteer. Please see specification and description below.



Mission and Vision 

We are women survivors of intimate partner violence driving change, transforming systems. Our vision is an Ireland where intimate violence is not tolerated, and  survivors’ voices clearly shape the laws, policies and services that protect them and others.

Brand Identity

SiSi’s brand identity is evolving as the organisation develops a new strategy and website. Our values direct the tone and style of our work. (See Appendix)

Position Summary 

The online/social media volunteer will create content and upload content, develop brand identity and awareness. Be a conduit for engagement with the organisation through various platforms. Liaise with the SiSi leadership team strengthening internal communications.  Strategically develop campaigns and public awareness of key priorities. Implement a social media strategy in line with the overall organisational strategic plan. 

The social media volunteer will create content and upload developed content, enhance brand identity and awareness. Be a conduit for engagement with the organisation through various platforms. Responsibilities and Scope

  • Content creation (graphics, copywriting, video, photography)

Brand identity for SiSi throughout the various channels. Infographic creation to convey key messaging and market training programmes and research initiatives. Coverage of events for the organisation and social media feeds for SiSi leadership/advocates. 

  • Content scheduling and posting. 

Creation of content to coincide with key dates and update audiences on organisation activity. Stagger content to build momentum and campaign narratives.

  • Monitoring comments, messages, and community engagement. 

Set up message response processes.  Record contact referrals  and link to appropriate support and advocacy internally. Develop social media referral pathways with key organisations identified and approved in line with organisations mission, vision and values. 

  • Tracking performance analytics. 

Record key performance indicators across platforms for inclusion in monthly reporting. Highlight areas for development or decommissioning in line with strategic direction.

  • Supporting campaigns or events. 

Campaign alliance building in line with key priorities. Develop support and content engagement nationally and internationally. Bringing international successes to a national audience through SiSi’s social media platforms.  Cover events related to core work and use social media to enhance/develop relationships/alliances. 

  • Adhering to confidentiality and brand-compliance requirements. 

Access to internal strategic and operational information must be held with the strictest confidence. The privacy of SiSi staff and volunteers must be safeguarded at all times. Social media content featuring individuals must have prior approval from SiSi’s Director  before being posted. Engagement on key priorities must be in line with SiSi’s strategic goals.

  • Flagging risks or sensitive issues for escalation. 

Security protocols must be adhered to by being mindful of the use of cyber violence against women. Any questionable engagement or requests through social media must be documented and dealt with in line with SiSi’s policies. 

Time Commitment and Expectations

  • Expected hours per week or month. 

 2 to 4 hours per week depending on peak dates, deadlines etc. 

  • Flexible vs. fixed schedule expectations. 

Flexible hours outside of fixed dates for monthly meetings and weekly/bi-weekly checkins.

  • Duration of volunteer engagement.

The Social Media Volunteer placement is for a period of six months with option to extend should that be considered mutually beneficial. 

  • Workload cycles. 

Planning and content creation to engagement and analysis. The cycle will include monthly campaign planning, content gathering and content creation. Execution and engagement will include scheduling, daily/weekly monitoring and engagement and live coverage where required. Review and Adaptation of policies and procedures to improve productivity and brand awareness and enhance key messaging. 

Processes and Workflows

  • Tools and Systems 

Identification of tools such as scheduling platforms, Canva templates, asset libraries, shared drives. G-Suits. Slack for internal communications etc

  • Approval Procedures

How drafts are reviewed, who approves posts, timing, and escalation pathways. Drafts and posts reviewed by SiSi’s Director or assigned line manager, topic specific. 

  • Content Calendar Overview

Workspace engagement where content, posting cadence and key dates relevant to the work are planned and agreed. 

Policies and Guidelines

  • Social Media Policy

Rules regarding tone, confidentiality, engagement protocols, moderation standards, boundaries. All social media content and engagement will be conducted in line with SiSi’s core strategy and developing social media strategy amplifying SiSi’s mission, vision, purpose and values. All content creation, posts and engagement must be pre-approved by SiSi’s Director or line manager and follow protocols set out through scheduling

  • Legal and Compliance Requirements

Copyright, licensing for media, privacy considerations, representation of vulnerable populations. Copyright for content both created and posted remains the intellectual property of SiSi.  User access to media licensed platforms etc remain the property of SiSi. Content creation and engagement must adhere to guidelines agreed in line with SiSi Safeguarding policies. 

  • Crisis Communication Guidelines

Steps for addressing negative press, harassment, or sensitive disclosures online. Crisis communication will be handled with sensitivity and in line with SiSi’s procedures for referral to appropriate supports both internally and externally. Negative press or engagement must be referred to SiSi’s Director and dealt with under the direction of SiSi’s Board. 

Training and Onboarding Support

  • Orientation to platforms, templates, workflows, messaging, past content examples, and support contacts. 

Training and onboarding will be provided at the outset and the social media volunteer will be included in team meetings as they relate to strategy, social media and communications. 

  • Reporting and Performance Measurement

Metrics to track (reach, engagement, conversions, follower growth), reporting cadence, and recipients. The role involves monthly reporting at team meetings. The social media volunteer will use metrics to track reach, engagement, conversions and follower growth along with reporting cadence and recipients.

Communication Protocols

  • Reporting lines, preferred communication channels, expected response times, meeting cadence. 

The social media volunteer will be expected to communicate internally through chosen and agreed preferred communication channels.

Volunteer Experience and Benefits

Skill development, access to training or software, networking opportunities, recognition of service.

The successful volunteer placement may be extended if in agreement. The social media volunteer will be afforded opportunities to take part in major campaign work and brand building. Upon successful completion of the placement a supporting reference will be made available. References will include acknowledgement of the work undertaken and the value/impact of that to the organisation. 

Administrative and Logistics Information 

  • Required agreements, access credentials, reimbursement policies, and off boarding steps.

 The Social Media volunteer will be required to adhere to all of SiSi’s volunteer policies including strict adherence to privacy agreements. All usernames and access codes remain the property of SiSi and must remain with SiSi’s Director. Expenses incurred while conducting work requested by the organisation and agreed prior to work being carried out will be fully reimbursed in line with SiSi’s expenses policy. When the volunteer placement is finished a process of off boarding and evaluation will commence giving an opportunity for the volunteer and organisation to exchange perspectives, learning and information resources. Should both SiSi and the volunteer be in agreement there may be an opportunity to extend the placement in order to complete certain tasks.
